Story & Photos by Loren Spangler “Welcome to Station House Bar and Grill,” Owner, Will Heddon, was born and raised in Polk County and knows what his customers want. He says that Station House is entering into their second successful year of offering a fun environment, excellent food, and competent service. In addition to the vast selection of tables and chairs in which to dine, there is also a stylish bar where you can enjoy your drink of choice and a comfy couch with a game table. Checkers anyone? There are several TV’s for your enjoyment, an exciting wall mural, and two pool tables. “My expertise is mainly in family entertainment,” Heddon says. “Now I am in the process of learning the bar and restaurant business.” From the moment you step inside to the completion of your meal, it is obvious that he is learning it well. Spyder, the Station House manager, says that the imaginative menu was created and designed by Mr. Heddon. The wide variety of appetizers, salads, and entrees contained therein are well thought-out and competitively priced in today’s market. Chris Cox is the chef de cuisine, and makes certain that meals are timely and prepared to perfection. He also oversees and manages the kitchen operation. For appetizers, the house special is the Train Wreck Potato...a spiral cut, 40 count Idaho, deep-fried and served with Texas Petal sauce for $3.99. Jalapeno or Shrimp Poppers, and Breaded Mushrooms are $5.99...Mozzarella Cheese Sticks are $5.49. Chips & Cheese, Chips & Salsa, and Stuffed Olives are priced at $4.99 each. Or try the tasty Salt-Water Crab bites for $6.49. In addition to all of that, Station House boasts that they have “Absolutely the Best Wings in Town.” A medley of fresh cut Garden Salad with your favorite dressing is priced from $1.95, and Grilled Chicken, Grilled Shrimp, or Grilled Grouper Salad is offered at $6.99.
For dinner, you can order Atlantic Grouper or Shrimp for $10.99. Scallops are $14.99. For those who prefer steak, the 10-oz center Sirloin is $14.95 and the 8-oz Filet Mignon is comfortably priced at $15.95. A Char-Grilled Chopped Steak is also available for $8.95. Grilled Chicken Breast is $9.99, and Chicken Tenders are $10.95. Steak entrees are served with a garden salad and baked potato. Children have their own menu called the “Kid’s Caboose.” All orders for the young ones contain a cookie and are priced at just $3.99. Favorites at the Station House Grill are: French or Curly Fries, ($2.49)...Onion Rings, ($2.99)... Bowl of Chili, ($3.99) and Chicken Quesadillas, ($6.49). Under “Burgers and Such,” Grilled Grouper, Philly Chicken or Philly Steak Sandwiches, and Cheeseburgers are priced from $4.99 to $8.99. There is also the halfpound Station House Burger...add bacon, chili, or mushrooms for 50 cents each. Their delicious pizza starts at $3.25 for a 7-inch, and the 16- inch pizza is $9.99. Add $1.25 for each additional topping. Delicious Hot Dog combinations and scrumptious deserts are also available.
